The 100 block of West Hancock Street will be OPEN to pedestrians, bands will play, there will be fun activities for all, and opportunity will abound for enjoyable time spent in the company of community, family, & friends.

Two popular local bands will be performing to get the street party started with toe-tapping & get-up-and-dance grooves. August First Friday Poster

With summer days slipping into fall, and a new school year right around the corner, now is a great time to celebrate the wrap of another summer season and combat the back-to-school blues. The End of Summer Shakedown in downtown Milledgeville will be filled with friends, food, and First Friday fun on Friday, August 4 from 6-8pm.

Under the direction of Mr. James McMillan, the award-winning Baldwin High School Band of the Braves will liven downtown with crowd pleasing favorites! Their upbeat music, dramatic drumlines, and wailing trumpets promise more pep in the step and the cheer in the crowd with a true display of esprit-de-corps and excellent showmanship in action. Other live music includes local favorites Charlie Adams and Carlos Toombs to keep the End of Summer Shakedown dancing well into the evening.

The talented Lisa Marie Barry returns to paint creative face designs, for the young and young at heart. As always, community organizations will have just what the kids want with engaging activities, entertainment, and no shortage of fun! Main Street especially thanks First Friday Champion Sponsors Magnolia State Bank and Robins Financial Credit Union, whose support keeps these family friendly, community events free and open to the public.

Allied Arts will present a concert by Freelance Ruckus, self-described as Southern alternative, Americana rock with powerful lead guitar, solid rhythm section, and vocal harmonies. Beginning at 7:30pm, in the historic Allen’s Market building at the North Wayne & McIntosh intersection, this concert is free and open to the public.
