Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, is a holiday celebrating the end of slavery in the United States at the end of the Civil War.

In honor of Juneteenth, join us for an enlightening afternoon on the history of slavery at Georgia’s Old Governor’s Mansion through a lecture on the Brown’s nursemaid Emma by Curator of Education Kierstin Veldkamp and our specialty tour: Labor Behind the Veil which explores in depth the history of slavery and African Americans at the Mansion.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

The tour is $8 for adults/seniors, $4 for students, and free to Georgia College faculty, staff, and students.

Join the Mansion on International Women’s Day, Thursday, March 8th or Wednesday, March 28th at 3 pm for a Women’s History Month special tour focusing on not only the women of the Mansion during the time of the governors, but also on women’s roles in the 19th century.

This tour is at the special rate of $8 for adults/seniors, $4 for students. GC faculty, staff, and students are always free. For more information, contact the Mansion at 478-445-4545.

The Mansion will be fully decorated and open for Christmas tours beginning Sunday, November 19, 2017. The Mansion will be closed for Thanksgiving November 23-27.

Old Governor’s Mansion
Tour one of the finest examples of High Greek Revival architecture in the nation. With its stately columns and imposing facade, it served as the residence for Georgia’s chief executives for over 30 years spanning the antebellum, Civil War & early Reconstruction phases of GA history.

Join the Old Governor’s Mansion for a special guided tour by candlelight to transport visitors back in time while seeing the magnificent halls decked as they would have been in historic times. Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled begin of the tour. For parties of ten or more please make reservations. Regular admission rates apply.
