Make it, hide it, find it, keep it. That is what the February First Friday is all about. Come downtown for Free Art 4U Milly. The First Friday committee has teamed up with the Georgia College Art Department to bring back another year of making, hiding, finding and keeping amazing local artwork.

Artists make and hide artwork throughout downtown Milledgeville then Milledgeville Main Street along with the artist will post clues on social media to give clues to the location of the hidden artwork. Clues will be posted on the Milledgeville First Friday Facebook page, Milledgeville First Friday Twitter page and the Milledgeville Main Street Instagram page using #FA4UMilly. Each social media outlet will have different clues posted. Art seekers can visit one or all of the social media outlets for clues to a variety of artwork!
Art will be hidden inside businesses, on sidewalks, in trees and anywhere else in downtown Milledgeville for visitors to find and take home. To distinguish between free art and a business’s merchandise, art pieces will have a Free Art 4U postcard attached.

The free, unique art pieces, created by Georgia College Art Department students and professors, are sure to be a hit this year. Hidden art will also be provided by local artists. Georgia College art classes will be making unique art pieces. Each class will be doing different projects.

Downtown businesses will be offering First Friday specials throughout the evening along with hidden free art! For more information about First Friday and the Free Art 4U movement contact Deana at the Milledgeville Main Street office, 478.414.4014 or visit Main Street on Facebook @MvilleMainSt

Then, dig your toes in the sand and relax for a special showing of the Minions movie at dark. This event is entirely made possible by the generous donation of sand by Standard Sand & Silica Company, delivery by Fowler Flemister Concrete, Inc., the hard working City of Milledgeville maintenance crews, and our First Friday sponsors. Give the Gift of Downtown Dollars

This year give the gift of choice; Downtown Dollars! Downtown Dollars were introduced in November of 2013 just in time for the holiday season. The Main Street Office is reminding shoppers that Downtown Dollars are gift certificates that support local businesses and are sure to please even the pickiest of gift recipients.

The Dollars can be purchased in denominations of $5 and can be used at over 30 locations downtown. Several new businesses have been added to the list since last year. The variety of retailers gives the user the freedom to choose between a night on the town, a new outfit, spa treatment and more! The money that is spent stays local which is also a great gift to give to the downtown merchants.

The list of Participating merchants can be found on the Main Street website at www.milledgevillemainstreet.com, is attached to each purchased certificate and available by request in the Main Street office. Downtown Dollars can be purchased in the Main Street office located at 105 East Hancock Street in Historic Downtown Milledgeville.
