$8,500 in scholarships awarded at the 2007

Milledgeville-Baldwin's Junior Miss competition

Twenty-two teenage girls from Milledgeville-Baldwin County competed for a share of $8,500 in college scholarships Saturday evening, January 7 th and Sunday afternoon, January 8 th at Russell Auditorium on the campus of Georgia College & State University. Milledgeville-Baldwin's Junior Miss is a sponsored program of Milledgeville MainStreet/Downtown Development Authority. Ashley Moore of Georgia Military College Prep was awarded the title of Milledgeville's Junior Miss 2007 and $1,500 in cash scholarships sponsored by Serenity Wellness Spa & Salon. Jamie Lynn LeBrun of Georgia Military College Prep was awarded the title of Baldwin's Junior Miss 2007 and $1,500 in cash scholarships sponsored by Rheem. Both young women will represent Milledgeville-Baldwin County at Georgia's Junior Miss scholarship program this summer. Milledgeville's Junior Miss and Baldwin's Junior Miss also receive a 12-month spa package provided by Serenity Wellness Spa & Salon, a 1-year gym membership provided by Fitness Plus and a 1-year newspaper subscription provided by The Union-Recorder. Overall award winners received flower bouquets provided by Lawrence Flower Shop, and all award winners received a silver award provided by JC Grant Company Jewelers.

In addition to winning the title of Milledgeville's Junior Miss, Moore won a $250 Fitness scholarship award sponsored by Captain D's of Milledgeville as well as a $250 Self-Expression scholarship award sponsored by AnBurg's. Ashley Moore is the niece of Maxine Easley. A varsity football cheerleader at GMC and is a member of the Honor Council, Moore hopes to attend Emory University and pursue a career as a Plastic Surgeon.

And in addition to winning the title of Baldwin's Junior Miss, LeBrun won a $250 Fitness scholarship award sponsored by Light Force Family Chiropractic, a $250 preliminary Talent scholarship award sponsored by Studio One School of Dance as well as the $500 Spirit of Junior Miss scholarship award sponsored by The Brick. Jamie Lynn LeBrun is the daughter of Jim and Melissa LeBrun of Milledgeville. A varsity football and competition cheerleader, LeBrun is also a member of the Magnolia State Bank Junior Board of Directors. Upon high school graduation, LeBrun plans to attend the University of Georgia and pursue a career in Fashion Marketing.

The first honoree, Catie Stewart of John Milledge Academy received a $1,000 cash scholarship sponsored by Middle Georgia Management and Pickle Barrel Café. Stewart also received a $250 Self-Expression scholarship award sponsored by Dramatic Action School of Character, and the Leia Eubanks Community Service award.

The second honoree, Jennifer Thompson of Baldwin High School received a $750 cash scholarship sponsored by Exchange Bank. Thompson also received a $250 preliminary Scholastic Achievement scholarship award sponsored by EBLA Academy.

Other category a ward recipients included: Kristen Hall of Baldwin High School, Antenica Smith of Baldwin High School, Christy Karson of John Milledge Academy and Chade' Franklin of Baldwin High School. Hall received a $500 Overall Scholastic Achievement scholarship award sponsored by Quay Fuller, REALTOR. Smith received a $500 Overall Talent award sponsored by Flooring America. Karson received a $250 preliminary Talent award sponsored by Z97, and Franklin received a $250 preliminary Scholastic Achievement award sponsored by Blindworks. Karson also won the $250 Be Your Best Self essay award sponsored by Blackbird Coffee.

Special recognition awards for the program were presented to: Kaitlin Griner of Georgia Military College Prep for the most sponsorships and Catie Stewart for the most tickets sold.
