Meet Georgia's Junior Miss 2006

Representing Baldwin County, Blair Harshbarger of Milledgeville won the title of Georgia's Junior Miss for 2006 and $4,250 in cash scholarships in addition to several full-tuition scholarships made available to state Junior Miss winners by universities throughout the nation and the $2,000 she received as Baldwin's Junior Miss. She represented Georgia in the America's Junior Miss National Finals in Mobile, Alabama, this past June, where she had the opportunity to win a share of more than $100,000 in cash scholarships. Blair received a $1,000 scholarship for her “Be Your Best Self Essay" at AJM.

 

Now a freshman at Harvard University, Blair is pursuing her love for liberal arts and science as well as vocal performance.A 2006 alumnus of Baldwin High School, she was active in fine arts programs at Baldwin High and Theatre Macon. Her awards and honors include the Governor's Honors Program in Vocal Arts in 2004, winning the State Literary girls' vocal solo state championship in 2005 as well as 1st place in the state National Association of Teachers of Singing advanced high school girls division in 2005. She also received the Overall Scholastics Award in both the Georgia's Junior Miss competition and her local Junior Miss competition. For the past three years, she has served as a member of the Pastor Nominating Committee of her church. She also participated in a house-building mission in Mexico in 2003 and 2005. Blair has most recently returned from a mission trip/study abroad program in Lima, Peru.

What is Junior Miss?

Junior Miss is a scholarship program that seeks to reward very special girls, ones who have excelled in the classroom, have been active in extracurricular activities, worked to help their community, developed a performing talent, and strived to stay physically fit.

Participants are scored in the following categories:

Interview 25%

Talent 25%

Scholastics 20%

Self-Expression 15%

Fitness 15%

Why should I participate

in Junior Miss?

•  Scholarship Opportunities! Each year MBJM makes available over $8,500 in scholarships locally & there are more than 14 scholarship awards to be won!

•  New Friends! Junior miss is a great way to meet outstanding young women from our community.

•  Be Your Best Self! Junior Miss provides a unique opportunity to experience the excitement of competition, develop confidence and self-esteem, and have a ton of fun at the same time.

 

How to participate?

 

Are you eligible? All high school junior girls who are residents of Baldwin County are eligible and encouraged to participate.

Participant Commitment: The Junior Miss experience is very unique. Participants learn to push their limits in physical fitness, to speak eloquently in public situations, to present themselves with grace and dignity, to form their own opinions and ideas about the world around them, and to develop and perform one of their many talents. As with most anything else, participants receive benefits from the Junior Miss Scholarship Program in reciprocation to the effort they put into it.

Don't miss out… A Junior Miss program representative will be attending your school in the fall to register girls for the upcoming Junior Miss program. Ask your guidance counselor for details.
